Aussies won the toss and chose to bat. Its never been so exciting to watch match up between Australia and India ODI teams, as both occupy the top positions in this format. Aussies have dominated ODI’s from late 80’s to early part of the Millenium, while India has worked its way up from early Millenium to where they are now to become one of the best ODI’s.
India from the first ball have shown that they are more prepared on the field and put up tight 4 overs with aggressive mind set of the fielders and bowlers, The pressure on both David Warner and Aaron Finch was visible in first 4 overs and Navdeep Saini comes on to take that pressure off.
David Warner and Aaron Finch repeat their magic , and this time around much more intact with no chances and put up another opening partner ship which laid a foundation for a massive score until Mohammad Shami claims Finch’s(60 of 69) wicket with an attempted yorker, which chips off the outside edge of Finch’s bat and produces a easy catch, followed quickly by David Warners(83 of 77) runout got some cheer to India.
Smith’s(104 of 63) century again was just another masterpiece with no mistakes in his knock(unlike the fist ODI) and looked more relaxed and classic. Labuschagne(70 of 61) and Maxwells(63 of 29) knock just another top notch performances which just upped the total to 389 for only 4 wickets. India’s bowlers did not make many mistakes ,its just Australian Batsmen just played top notch.
India gets a cracking start with Mayank(28 of 25) while Shikar (30 of 23 ) tries to hit a 6 of Hazlewoods delivery gives a simple catch, later Mayank gets caught behind the wickets. Shreyas joins Kohli and hits 38 of 36 to suport Kohli in a massive score chase and gets caught by Smith of Henriques ball. Rahul joins Kohli and carry on without loosing a wicket ,but gives an impresion India has no intention to win the game and trying to put best foot forward( The pace Rahul and Kohli were scoring runs , no options for batsmen who are to follow to chase).
Kohli gets his first 50 in Sydney and falls (89 of 87) of hazelwoods last ball of the over .Hardik Joins Rahul and a terrific Maiden 41st over (1 wd ball) by Cummins just made drift even further. Zampa gets Rahul’s(76 of 66) wicket and Jadeja joins Hardik at stage where the game is out of hands . Jadeja fires up the stadium for some runs and then wickets fall to settle for a loss by 51 runs.
India lost the ODI series , now should focus on T20 series and try not disappoint Indian fans.
